Week 1

Week 1: Concepting the Idea for Pudding Frog was a pretty quick task as I have been throwing around the idea for this game in my head for a few months now. So rather than spending a lot of time brainstorming the base concept for my game, my time was spent doing research on frogs, their predators, and source images for attempting to animate a frog's jump. I also created the initial Game Design Document with all of the necessary information to try and keep myself within scope since this is an incredibly short development cycle.

Initially I really wanted to try and figure out codding a tongue grappling hook that is controlled by clicking and dragging the mouse, allowing for nearly 360 degree control of the tongue within its length, but I’m not sure I will have the time to really troubleshoot programming something like that with my somewhat subpar programming experience. So tentatively I am scrapping that idea and leaning farther into the charge jump mechanic. That being said If i make good time on everything else during the first sprint I will revisit this idea as it's something that I really fell in love with during concepting and it pains me to let it go.

I am also really torn on how difficult to make this game, as I want to be able to effectively test all of the various obstacles and challenges within a short amount of time, and I am concerned that playtesters won't get very far and be able to test everything in such a short amount of time. This will likely be a recurring theme for me during development as one of the core emotional components of the game is eliciting a level of frustration in my player.

I worked on the grapple mechanic with the help of a handful of programming tutorials and got the grapple to a passable state.
